Mitigation, Preparedness and Response

Mitigation, preparedness, and response consider appropriate measures and actions to reduce the impacts of hydrometeorological events. IBF services that recommend early efforts enable communities at risk and stakeholder sectors to conduct early mitigation and protective action, thus reducing the likely impacts of specific hazards.

WRNs aim to produce local scale impact-based forecasts and warnings that influence the recipient’s understanding and response to hazardous events and foster community preparedness in mobilization (wanting to act) and empowerment (knowing what to do), thus mitigating the consequences of severe hydrometeorological events.
